Is your home as energy efficient as it can be? Unseen problems, such as leaky ducts and poorly sealed doors and windows can result in overworking your air conditioning unit or heater. This extra work can add up over the course of a hot summer, as the longer the unit runs, the more power you use.
A good way to figure out how energy efficient you home is by having an energy audit done. A home energy audit is the first step to assess how much energy your home consumes and to evaluate what measures you can take to make your home more energy efficient. An audit will show you problems that may, when corrected, save you significant amounts of money over time. During the audit, you can pinpoint where your house is losing energy. Audits also determine the efficiency of your home's heating and cooling systems. An audit may also show you ways to conserve hot water and electricity.
You can perform a simple energy audit yourself, such as this online home audit on the Home Energy Saver website, or have a professional energy auditor carry out a more thorough audit.
North Little Rock Electric now offers a free energy audit to those interested in identifying how much energy their homes consume and what measures may be taken to make their homes more energy efficient. The walk-through audit will show a homeowner problems that may, when corrected, save significant amounts of money over time. An Energy auditor can pinpoint where your house is losing energy and give you tips to correct those problems. An audit will help you understand the efficiency of your home’s heating and cooling systems, look at how sound your windows and doors are, inspect insulation levels, show you ways to conserve electricity, and help identify leaks in the building. The auditor will also show the customer the benefits to using compact-fluorescent bulbs, weather-stripping and other products that could help the customer save energy now and for years to come. This is a free service provided by North Little Rock Electric Department. Click the link below to fill out the Free Home Audit Request form, and you will be contacted to set up an appointment.
